16-Bit Video Games ‘RetroRealms: Halloween’ and ‘RetroRealms: Ash vs Evil Dead’ Releasing This Halloween

It was announced just yesterday that Boss Team Games is developing not one but two video games based on the Halloween franchise, with one of them powered by Unreal Engine 5 and aided by direct creative input from John Carpenter. The other one, IGN has now revealed, is a retro-style 16-bit platformer – and Ash vs. Evil Dead is also getting a game in the same style!

Titled RetroRealms: Halloween and RetroRealms: Ash vs. Evil Dead, the two video games from Boss Team Games will be released in time for Halloween on October 18.

“Everyone at Boss Team Games are huge fans of horror, and getting to work with these legendary properties is a dream come true,” said Boss Team Games’ CEO Steve Harris. “It has been an amazing experience collaborating with WayForward, and our licensors to create not one, but two, fast-paced 90’s arcade style games while remaining true to the original Halloween film and Ash vs Evil Dead series. The trailer dropping today gives fans a taste of the gore-filled gameplay and fast-paced action and we can’t wait to show more!”

Both games will be released October 18 for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox. IGN’s report this morning notes, “Both games can be purchased separately via a digital storefront for $24.99 each, or you can purchase a physical Double Feature bundle, which will retail for $49.99.” The trailer seems to suggest that grabbing both will allow you to combine the two horror worlds.

The trailer this morning also teases bonus DLC characters Laurie Strode from Halloween and Kelly Maxwell from Ash vs. Evil Dead, available to those who pre-order the games now.
