The next slasher classic to get the 4K Ultra HD treatment is The Burning, with Scream Factory announcing today that the 1981 film hits 4K UHD + Blu-ray on July 11, 2023.
In The Burning, “A group of summer camp pranksters get the scare of their lives when they target the camp’s creepy caretaker…and he takes bloody revenge!”
Feeling like a lost Friday the 13th movie, The Burning introduced the slasher icon known as Cropsy. The film is notable for featuring gore effects from the legendary Tom Savini.
Meagan Navarro wrote here on Bloody Disgusting a while back, “The Burning delivers in a satisfying way thanks to Tom Savini’s uncanny talent for gore.”
The film is also notable for featuring early appearances from actors Fisher Stevens, Holly Hunter, and Jason Alexander, who all became big stars in their own right.
