It’s the final week of June and we’re looking forward to the long Fourth of July Weekend, which means you can expect a relative slow down on the news and new release front this next week. But that doesn’t mean we’re not getting any new horror movies the next few days…
Here’s all the new horror releasing June 27 – July 2, 2023!

The star of Rob Zombie’s 31 and last year’s Barbarian, Richard Brake is back to deliver another scene-stealing performance in The Gates, an Irish horror movie released this week.
The Gates opened up on VOD and Digital platforms today, June 27.
In the film, “A serial killer has been sentenced to death by electric chair in London in the 1890s, but in his final hours, he puts a curse on the prison he is in, and all of those in it.”
John Rhys-Davies, Michael Yare, Elena Delia, David Pearse and Peter Coonan also star.

The other new horror movie out today is the cryptid documentary The Dogman Triangle, which is now available on VOD outlets from 1091 Pictures and Small Town Monsters.
In the film, “For centuries tales have been told around the world about strange, upright-walking wolves. While these stories are typically thought to be little more than legend or folklore, they live on, and in recent years the terrifying reality behind them is coming to light. In the state of Texas alone, dozens of reports of encounters with Werewolves have been brought to light.
“These reports were the focus of a recent book by author, Aaron Deese, who not only found a preponderance of such accounts, but also a strange pattern to them; a pattern that fit inside a seven hundred plus square mile area he calls the Texas Dogman Triangle. The Dogman Triangle trails Deese, along with independent researcher and author, Shannon LeGro as they map out the triangle. Speaking with witnesses, and experts, LeGro and Deese journey deep into a uniquely American phenomenon that has roots in our ancient past.”
The children are not okay in Netflix’s new psychological horror movie Run Rabbit Run starring Sarah Snook (“Succession”), which debuts on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
In Run Rabbit Run, “Sarah Snook plays a fertility doctor who believes firmly in life and death, but after noticing the strange behaviour of her young daughter, must challenge her own values and confront a ghost from her past.”
Daina Reid (“Shining Girls,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Outsider”) directed the film, written by Hannah Kent (The Good People, Devotion). Run Rabbit Run also stars Lily LaTorre, Damon Herriman (House of Wax, The Nightingale, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), and Greta Scacchi (Darby & Joan, Shepherd).
Trace Thurman reviewed Run Rabbit Run out of Sundance. In his review, he drew comparisons to Australian horror hit The Babadook and cited Snook’s performance as a highlight.
Thurman wrote, “The film offers a solid performance from Sarah Snook, who does what she can with some admittedly slim material. Parent viewers might be more empathetic toward Sarah’s plight, but others will find themselves frustrated with nearly every decision Sarah makes whenever Mia acts out. Snook isn’t given much to work with other than to act frantically at every little red flag that Mia’s behavior raises, but she gives a nuanced enough performance to override some of the script’s failures.”
On the TV front, Henry Cavill’s final battle as Geralt of Rivia begins this Thursday with “The Witcher” Season 3 Volume 1, the brand new chapter in the monster-slaying saga.
Volume 1 of “The Witcher” Season 3 will include episodes 1-5 and will be released globally on Netflix June 29 and Volume 2 will include episodes 6-8, releasing July 27.
Anya Chalotra (Yennefer of Vengerberg), and Freya Allan (Princess Cirilla of Cintra) are also back for “The Witcher” Season 3, starring alongside Henry Cavill.
In “The Witcher” Season 3…
“As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.”
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is the showrunner and executive producer. Season 3 directors include Stephen Surjik, Gandja Monteiro, Loni Peristere, and Bola Ogun.
