4 New Horror Movies Releasing This Week Including Foo Fighters Horror-Comedy ‘Studio 666’!

This week started off on a slow note here in the horror world, with no new movie releases these first three days of the week. But that’s about to change as we head into the weekend.

Four brand new horror movies are on the way in the coming days, one of them headed our way tomorrow and three others finishing out the week on Friday, February 25th.

Here’s all the new horror arriving February 24 + 25, 2022!

First up we have the Shudder Original horror movie Hellbender, the latest project from indie filmmaking team Toby Poser, Zelda Adams, and John Adams (The Deeper You Dig).

Hellbender comes to Shudder on Thursday, February 24.

The film follows 16-year-old Izzy (Zelda Adams), who leads an isolated life on a lonely mountaintop due to a rare sickness. Questioning her illness and starving for companionship, Izzy sneaks down the mountain where she befriends the brazen older girl Amber (Lulu Adams). Just as Izzy finally begins to feel happiness, a drinking game involving a live worm unleashes a new kind of insatiable hunger within her. Confused and scared, Izzy appeals to her mother for answers but the family’s secrets are as old and dark as the bloodline from which they’re born.

Joe Lipsett wrote in his 4-star review for Bloody Disgusting, “Hellbender doesn’t break the mold, but it is an accessible, enticing film that should gain the Adams Family a legion of new fans. Keep an eye on this DIY family; they’re one to watch.”

'Studio 666' Review - The Foo Fighters Unleash Their Demons in Gory Splatstick Comedy!

Friday kicks off on a rocking note with the theatrical release of Studio 666, an Evil Dead-style horror-comedy that stars Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters band members.

Hatchet III filmmaker BJ McDonnell directed this one.

In Studio 666, the legendary rock band Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock and roll history to record their much anticipated 10th album. Once in the house, Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band.”

Meagan writes in her review for BD, “Studio 666 makes for an entertaining jam session full of gore, laughs, and endearing moments between the band.”

“When she stumbles across an abducted girl in a van in the parking lot, it sets her on a terrifying life-or-death struggle to discover who among them is the kidnapper.”

The final new genre release for the week is the suspense thriller The Desperate Hour, which stars Naomi Watts (The Ring) and is coming to theaters and On Demand this Friday.

Unfolding in real time, The Desperate Hour is said to be a “riveting and pulse pounding” thriller from award-winning director Phillip Noyce (SliverThe Bone Collector, Salt).
