5 New Horror Movies Releasing This Week Plus ‘Jaws’ Comes to Theaters in 3D for the First Time!

With September just days away, this week is a bit of a “quiet before the storm” sort of week, as a ton of new horror releases are coming hot and heavy in the next two months.

This week, however, is relatively quiet, but that doesn’t mean we’re not getting any new horror this week. In fact, we’re getting FIVE brand new horror movies in the coming days.

That includes a brand new original from the BD-powered SCREAMBOX, not to mention the theatrical re-release of a horror classic…. in THREE DIMENSIONS for the first time.

Here’s all the new horror arriving August 30 – September 4, 2022!

First up, Bloody Disgusting is excited to debut the brand new SCREAMBOX Original PussyCake, a gore-fest from Argentina that’s now streaming exclusively on SCREAMBOX!

PussyCake is also available for $4.99 rental on VOD outlets today.

Described as Evil Dead meets Josie and the Pussycats, Pablo Parés‘ PussyCake promises monsters, inter-dimensional journeys, kickass music, and of course, lots of gore!

In the film, a struggling all-girl rock band kicks off a new tour, hoping to rekindle their popularity. Things are off to a bad start, however, when they show up to their first gig to find the town deserted. After they catch the attention of horrors from beyond our reality, the band realizes that being forgotten by their fans is the least of their problems.

Sign up for SCREAMBOX now and get 30 DAYS FREE.

Also available today is new indie horror movie The Gravedigger from Indican Pictures, up for grabs on DVD and On Demand and offering a new spin on Frankenstein’s Monster.

Set in 1700s Bavaria, The Gravedigger follows Kurt Volkera (Paul Homza), a lonely gravedigger whose life is forever changed when he stumbles upon a scared, violent man (Gisbert Heuer) hiding in the graveyard. After taking him in, Volkera’s past comes back to haunt him after learning that the man is actually the creation of a young Victor Frankenstein (Tyler Charles Kane) for whom he had been collecting body parts a year earlier.

Meanwhile, Dr. Frankenstein is on the hunt for his monster, who had murdered his entire family in a fit of rage and escaped. As Dr. Frankenstein gets closer to finding his prey and exacting revenge, the monster begins to find his humanity with the help of his new friend, the gravedigger.

Directed by Erynn Dalton (American Cryptid) and written by Joseph Zettelmaier (“The Call of the Void”), The Gravedigger also stars Arlette Del Toro (The Naked Proof).

Shudder Original Production, the horror-comedy Who Invited Them from writer/director Duncan Birmingham (MaronBlunt Talk) will be available exclusively on Shudder in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand on Thursday, September 1.

Shudder holds worldwide rights to the film, which made its U.S. premiere at New Orleans’ Overlook Film Festival, and stars Ryan Hansen (Party Down), Melissa Tang (The Kominsky Method), Timothy Granaderos (13 Reasons Why) and Perry Mattfeld (In the Dark).

Who Invited Them puts a fresh, fun twist on the home invasion genre. It’s darkly comic yet shockingly sinister. We can’t wait for Shudder members to check out the party,” said Shudder general manager Craig Engler.

In Who invited Them, Adam and Margo’s (Hansen, Tang) housewarming party is a success. However, one mysterious couple (Granaderos, Mattfeld) linger long after all the other guests have left. The uninvited couple reveals themselves to be their wealthy neighbors, Tom and Sasha. But as a single nightcap leads to another, Adam and Margo start to suspect these new friends are actually duplicitous strangers.

In the film, starring The Black Phone scene-stealer Madeleine McGraw….

Hoping to escape their past, Daniel and Theresa Snyder move their troubled young daughter Rosalie to a quaint Midwestern town, but they are followed by the evil they tried to leave behind. Irene Bedard (Pocahontas), Will KlipstineAmanda MacDonald and Steve Monroe also star.

Will Klipstine directed The Harbinger and wrote the script with Amy Mills.
