Ben Cooper Costume Figures from NECA

As previewed at San Diego Comic-Con, NECA is adding four new characters to its Ben Cooper Costume action figure line: Alien‘s Xenomorph, Gremlins‘ Gizmo and Stripe, and Beetlejuice (based on the animated series).

Each 6″ toy is outfitted in retro-inspired soft goods clothing and comes with a trick or treat bag. They’re packaged in numbered window boxes. Due out in October, the set of four is available for $79.99.


Escape from New York Steelbook 4K UHD from Scream Factory

Escape from New York will be released on SteelBook 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray with artwork by Orlando Arocena on November 5 via Scream Factory. The 1981 post-apocalyptic action film been restored in 4K from the original camera negative with Dolby Atmos and original stereo audio.

Master of horror John Carpenter directs from a script he co-wrote with Nick Castle (who played Michael Myers in Halloween). Kurt Russell stars as anti-hero Snake Plissken with Lee Van Cleef, Donald Pleasence, Ernest Borgnine, Isaac Hayes, Harry Dean Stanton, and Adrienne Barbeau.

The three-disc set includes all extras from Scream Factory’s previous edition: commentaries by Carpenter and Russell, producer Debra Hill and production designer Joe Alves, and Barbeau and director of photography Dean Cundey; interviews with composer Alan Howarth, actor Joe Unger, and still photographer Kim Gottlieb-Walker; Big Challenges in Little Manhattan: The Visual Effects of Escape from New York; Return to Escape from New York; deleted opening scene; and more.


Elvira Jacket from Fright Rags

Classes are back in session, so show off your spooky school spirit with Fright-Rags’ Elvira varsity jacket.

Limited to 250, it features featuring custom chenille front and back patches. Priced at $100, they’ll ship the week of October 18.


They Live Figure from Mondo

I have come here to chew bubblegum and buy toys… and I’m all out of bubblegum.

Mondo is selling a They Live 1:6 scale Nada figure for $250. Pre-orders for the timed edition close this Monday, September 9, at 1pm ET, and are expected to ship in January.

The 12″ collectible comes with two heads (human and alien), six hands, police belt with holster, black revolver, silver revolver, rifle, baton, walkie talkie with holder, sunglasses, reality glasses, gum pack, and display stand.


The Shape of Water4K UHD from Criterion

The Shape of Water will join The Criterion Collection on 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray on November 26. The 2017 romantic fairy tale been digitally mastered in 4K, supervised by director Guillermo del Toro, with HDR and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.

The Academy Award winner is co-written by del Toro and Vanessa Taylor (Divergent). Sally Hawkins, Octavia Spencer, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Doug Jones star.

Special features include: a new conversation between del Toro and filmmaker David Lowery; A Fairy Tale for Troubled Times documentary; Anatomy of a Scene featurettes; 2017 Masterclass with del Toro and crew; interview with illustrator James Jean; trailers; and a booklet written by film critic Carlos Aguilar.
