They Live Steelbook 4K UHD from Scream Factory
John Carpenter’s They Live came to 4K Ultra HD last year, but Scream Factory is giving it a makeover with a limited edition Steelbook featuring new artwork by Devon Whitehead.
The 1988 cult classic will be released on January 17. Based on Ray Nelson’s 1963 short story “Eight O’Clock in the Morning,” it stars Roddy Piper, Keith David, and Meg Foster.
They Live is presented in 4K with 7.1 Dolby Atmos Audio. Special features are identical to the previous edition, including a commentary track by Carpenter and Piper, interviews with Carpenter, David, and Foster, and more.
Godzilla: Tokyo SOS Statue from Mondo
Mondo celebrated Godzilla Day by unveiling its Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. premium scale statue. Expected to ship in spring/summer 2023, it’s limited to 600 and costs $585 with free shipping.
The King of the Monsters stands 17″ tall, including a 15″ diameter base. It’s designed by Francesco Francavilla and Hector Arce, sculpted by Tommy Hodges, and painted by Arce. Francavilla also created the packaging art.
Accessories include two Mothra larva, three interchangeable lower jaws (open, closed, and eating Mothra leg), two interchangeable heads (one with heat ray attack), and tail tip to which a Mothra larva can attach.
Cloverfield Steelbook 4K UHD from Paramount
Cloverfield will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a limited edition Steelbook 4K UHD release on January 17 from Paramount. A semi-transparent slipcover with additional artwork is included.
The 2008’s found footage monster movie is directed by Matt Reeves (The Batman) and written by Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods). Lizzy Caplan, Jessica Lucas, T.J. Miller, Michael Stahl-David, Mike Vogel, and Odette Yustman star.
Cloverfield is presented in 4K with HDR and 5.1 Dolby TrueHD sound. Existing special features – a commentary by Reeves, three featurettes, alternate endings, and more – are included on the Blu-ray disc.
FYE exclusively carries a line of Creepshow snacks to much on while you watch the Shudder series. Creepshow white cheddar popcorn will make you munch and crunch in terror for $4.99, Creepshow cherry energy drink will creep you up all night for $3.99, and Creepshow sour gummy worms will crawl down your throat for $4.99.
Freaky 4K UHD from Scream Factory
Many people missed the opportunity to see Freaky in theaters due to the pandemic, but you’ll be able to experience the 2020 body swap comedy-slasher hybrid in 4K Ultra HD on January 24, courtesy of Scream Factory.
Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day) directs from a script he co-wrote with Michael Kennedy (Bordertown). Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton star with Katie Finneran, Celeste O’Connor, Misha Osherovich, Uriah Shelton, and Alan Ruck. Blumhouse produces.
No new special features are listed, but existing ones will be included: an audio commentary by Landon, four featurettes, and deleted scenes.
