Killer Collectibles highlights five of the most exciting new horror products announced each and every week, from toys and apparel to artwork, records, and much more.
Here are the coolest horror collectibles unveiled this week!
Crimson Peak Vinyl Soundtrack from Waxwork Records
Crimson Peak’s original motion picture soundtrack is available on 2xLP vinyl for $40 via Waxwork Records. The score is composed by Fernando Velázquez (The Impossible, Mama).
Between Jérémy Pailler’s ethereal artwork on the gatefold jacket and the “Ice Blue & Red Clay” splatter color vinyl, not to mention Velázquez’s haunting music, this is certain to be one of the most beautiful records in your collection.
My Best Friend Is a Vampire Blu-ray from Lionsgate
My Best Friend Is a Vampire will be released on Blu-ray on July 25 as the 30th installment in Lionsgate’s Vestron Video Collector’s Series. Matthew Therrien designed the cover art for the 1987 horror-comedy.
Also known as I Was a Teenage Vampire, the film is directed by Jimmy Huston (Final Exam) and written by Tab Murphy (Tarzan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame). Robert Sean Leonard, Cheryl Pollak, René Auberjonois, Evan Mirand, Paul Willson, David Warner, and Kathy Bates star.
Special features include an audio commentary by Huston and film historian Nathaniel Thompson along with interviews with Wilson, Murphy, and production executive Ken Aguado.
Starship Troopers Vinyl Soundtrack from Varese Sarabande
It’s hard to believe Starship Troopers’ soundtrack was never pressed on vinyl, but that will change on August 4 thanks to Varese Sarabande. Up for pre-order for $37.99, the remastered score is composed by Basil Poledouris (RoboCop, Conan the Barbarian).
The album is pressed on 2xLP black vinyl. It’s housed in a gatefold jacket featuring artwork by Malachi Ward with a fold-out poster and liner notes by director Paul Verhoeven and Poledouris’ daughter, Zoë.
Sisu will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on July 11 via Lionsgate. Best Buy will carry an exclusive Steelbook 4K Ultra HD edition of the gory action movie.
Written and directed by Jalmari Helander (Rare Exports, Big Game), the film stars Jorma Tommila, Aksel Hennie, Jack Doolan, and Mimosa Willamo. Meagan Navarro called Sisu “a wild ride that begs to be seen with an energized crowd” in her Bloody Disgusting review.
Special features include Indestructible: Making Sisu and Pushing the Boundaries of Reality: The Visual Effects of Sisu featurettes.
What We Do in the Shadows Print from Gallery 1988
Original artwork and prints from Gallery 1988’s “Idiot Box 2023” exhibit are available online. There’s a ton of great TV-inspired art, but I’m partial to this What We Do in the Shadows piece.
Artist Stephen Andrade created a vintage giallo-style poster for the first season episode “The Cursed Hat.” 11×17 giclee prints on mate paper are available for $30.
Queer Horror Pride Shirt from Dead Meat
Bonus item for a good cause! Dead Meat created a Pride design paying tribute to several queer horror artists: Don Mancini (Child’s Play), Clive Barker (Hellraiser), Anthony Perkins (Psycho), James Whale (Frankenstein), Jodie Foster (The Silence of the Lambs), Jeffrey Reddick (Final Destination), and Kevin Williamson (Scream).
It comes on black or heather dust T-shirts ($30) as well as stickers in three sizes: 3×3 ($6), 4×4 ($7), and 5.5×5.5 ($7). A portion of proceeds will be donated to Out Youth, an organization that serves LGBTQIA+ youth in Texas.
