Killer Collectibles highlights five of the most exciting new horror products released each and every week, from toys and apparel to artwork, records, and much more.
Here are the coolest horror collectibles unveiled this week!
‘Tremors’ Shirt from Cavity Colors
Like many, the recent loss of Fred Ward had me reflecting on his work. Whenever I watch Tremors, I’m struck by how impossibly entertaining the genre-bending amalgam of action, horror, comedy, sci-fi, and western is. Cavity Colors broke ground on three shirts from the 1990 film, including Hillary White’s design featuring a comic book-style take on Graboids. Even better, it’s printed on “Desert Heat” tie-dye tees. Priced at $28, it ships the week of June 13.
‘Jurassic Park’ Dilophosaurus Dress from Hot Topic
Hot Topic teamed with Her Universe, the “fangirl fashion company” founded by Star Wars: The Clone Wars actress Ashley Eckstein, for a line of Jurassic Park women’s apparel. The highlight is the Dilophosaurus dress, which retails for $44.90 but is currently on sale for $35.92.
Designed by 2021 Her Universe Fashion Show winner Teighlor Johnson, it features a collar modeled after the dinosaur’s frill and an embroidered print on the skirt, plus it has pockets! After appearing in one of the most memorable scenes in Jurassic Park, the Dilophosaurus will return in Jurassic World: Dominion next month.
‘PG: Psycho Goreman’ Gift Set from Raven Banner
PG: Psycho Goreman was my favorite movie of last year, and it’s the perfect choice for retro-style toys. Raven Banner Entertainment, one of the production companies behind the film, has released a gift set that includes the sci-fi-horror-comedy on Blu-ray with an exclusive PG action figure.
Created by Plastic Meatball (who made the first official Psycho Goreman toys last year), the “Battle Ravaged” variant figure features blood splatter and glow-in-the-dark eyes. The Blu-ray is the Canadian edition, which offers more special features than its U.S. counterpart. Limited to 1,500, the set costs $49.99.
‘Firestarter’ Vinyl Soundtrack from Varese Sarabande
It’s rare that John Carpenter has big shoes to fill, but that was the case when the master of horror composed the score for the new Firestarter – because the legendary Tangerine Dream (Legend, Risky Business, Near Dark) handled the soundtrack for the previous adaptation of the Stephen King novel in 1984.
Tangerine Dream’s Firestarter soundtrack has been newly mastered and pressed on exclusive “Fuego” colored vinyl by Varese Sarabande. Liner notes by film music expert Randall D. Larson are included. Scheduled to ship by July 22, it’s up for pre-order for $29.98. A CD version is also available.
‘Jurassic Park’ Print from Hero Complex Gallery
I have to double down on the Jurassic Park love this week. Hero Complex Gallery recently challenged artists to reimagine media artwork for their “Covers” exhibit. Danny Schlitz found a way to illustrate a Jurassic Park piece as if it were an issue of Weird Science, the 1950s fantasy comic from EC Comics. Limited to 75, giclee prints are available in 16×24 for $40 and 24×36 for $65.
