“Oh, Lord! Help this sinning woman see the sin of her days and ways. Show her that if she had remained sinless, this curse of blood would never have come on her!”
It’s prom night at Bates High, and The Losers’ Club is attending to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Brian De Palma‘s Carrie. Starring Sissy Spacek, John Travolta, Piper Laurie, and Nancy Allen, the very first Stephen King adaptation was a commercial and critical smash, earning two Oscar nominations and giving Hollywood a new generation of talent.
Joining Losers Michael Roffman, Randall Colburn, and Jenn Adams on the dance floor tonight is musician Colleen Green. Together, they discuss De Palma’s style, the film’s star-studded cast of then-unknowns, and the not-so-long road from page to screen. It’s a fast and fiery Long Watch episode that would even make Billy Nolan flip his car with shock and awe.
Stream the episode below and give Colleen’s latest album, Cool, a listen shortly after. You can also stream her back catalogue via Bandcamp, which includes her full-album cover of blink-182’s Dude Ranch and the Cujo EP she references with the Losers. And be sure follow Colleen on Instagram and Twitter to see when she might be touring your town in the near future.
As for us? We’ll be back next week with another Hollywood King episode to catch up on all the latest headlines involving the Master of Horror.
