A double dose of alligator terror is on the way from Scream Factory, with the company announcing that the 1980 creature feature Alligator is headed to 4K Ultra HD next year! Additionally, 1991’s Alligator II: The Mutation comes to Blu-ray on the same day, February 22.
Scream Factory teases the 4K Ultra HD release of Cujo director Lewis Teague‘s Alligator: “3-Disc Set will include a 4K UHD, Blu-ray (both featuring the theatrical cut of the film) and an additional Blu-ray disc featuring the rare television version of the feature with alternate scenes. Full list of final extras will be announced on a later date.”
As for the sequel, all we know is that extras will be announced soon.
In Alligator, “A baby alligator is flushed down a Chicago toilet and survives by eating discarded laboratory rats injected with growth hormones. The small reptile grows gigantic, escapes the city sewers, and goes on a rampage.”
And in Alligator II: The Mutation, “Deep in the sewers beneath the city of Regent Park, another baby alligator feeds on the experimental animals discarded by Future Chemicals Corporation. Nourished by toxic growth hormones and other mutating chemicals, the gator grows immense in size, develops a voracious appetite and goes out on a killing spree. No one believes the sightings until a large number of people are killed, and the police eventually embark on a search-and-destroy mission to put a stop to the alligator’s murderous rampage.”
