‘Resident Evil’ Creator Hopes Rumored ‘Resident Evil 4’ Remake Improves the Writing

While it remains to be seen if (or when) Capcom finally announces the development of the Resident Evil 4 remake, the original game’s creator, Shinji Mikami, hopes that the team improves on what he was able to do with the story.

Speaking to VG24/7, Mikami acknowledges that many fans “will most likely want [a remake], and so that’s a good thing.” The director of the 2005 hit does hope that the new team will do a better job on his story, which he claims was written by him in just three weeks. Namely because he “only had three weeks to write it in.”

Currently, Mikami is working to get Tango Gameworks’ Ghostwire: Tokyo out the door, which had its release date of March 25 announced earlier this week. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 4 is enjoying a resurgence thanks to Resident Evil 4 VR, which just had an update released earlier this week, as well.

As for that rumoured remake? Not much more has surfaced since the rumoured overhaul during production last year, where the team supposedly behind the remake, M-Two (which was sticking a little too close to the original for inspiration for Capcom’s liking), was swapped out with Capcom Division 1. The former team was responsible for the Resident Evil 3 remake.
