In the wake of playing the Riddler in Matt Reeves’s The Batman, we’ve learned this week that Paul Dano is next writing his own spinoff project in the form of a comic book.
Riddler: Year One, written by Dano, will release this Halloween from DC Comics!

Meagan Navarro wrote of Dano’s performance in her review of The Batman, “Paul Dano is utterly chilling; his unhinged serial killer ensures The Batman‘s stakes remain high.”
The Batman has thus far pulled in over $500 million worldwide, so it makes sense that DC and Warner Bros. are working hard on expanding this latest iteration of Gotham.
On that note, two different spinoff projects are in development for HBO Max, including one centered on Arkham Asylum and another focused on Colin Farrell’s Penguin.
