Shin’ichirô Ueda’s brilliant zombie movie One Cut of the Dead gets a remake with Final Cut, a fresh French take on the material that was directed by Michel Hazanavicius. The film is set to premiere at the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival under the title Z (Comme Z).
A couple international teaser trailers for the One Cut of the Dead remake are collected in the video you’ll find below, giving us our first look at the French zombie movie.
In Final Cut, “Things go badly for a small film crew shooting a low-budget zombie movie when they are attacked by real zombies.”
Romain Duris, Bérénice Bejo, Grégory Gadebois, Finnegan Oldfield, Matilda Lutz, and Raphaël Quenard star in Final Cut.
We don’t yet have any release info at this time. Stay tuned.
The original Japanese zombie-comedy One Cut of the Dead was a huge hit out of the Fantasia Film Festival, with Meagan raving in her review for us back in 2018 that the film “charms with surprising zombie comedy,” while also adding: “For those looking for laughs and commentary on the passions of low budget horror filmmaking, this is a must watch.”
Thanks to Fabien M. for shooting over the trailer.
