A brand new Shudder original documentary, The Found Footage Phenomenon has been announced with a trailer today, and it’s set to begin streaming on May 19, 2022!
Shudder previews, “The documentary tracks the origins of the found footage technique and how it transformed with technological changes throughout the last few decades. The Found Footage Phenomenon features interviews with integral found footage directors whose films impacted the horror genre like no other sub-genre has, around the turn of the millennium.”
Of course, landmark found footage horror movies including The McPherson Tape, The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity will get the spotlight, among many others.
Shudder recently made their own mark in the found footage arena with Host, a horror movie filmed entirely on Zoom that was a huge success for the service back in 2020.
Sarah Appleton and Phillip Escott directed and produced the documentary.
The Found Footage Phenomenon features a score by music legend Simon Boswell.
