Godzilla fans will be happy to hear that the second season of the 1970s animated “Godzilla” series is finally going to be available to stream, set for official YouTube release from Toho!
Never-before-released on home video and rarely seen in over 40 years, this second season is exclusive to Toho’s Official Godzilla YouTube Channel and will bring viewers back to the Saturday morning adventures of Godzilla and the loveable sidekick, Godzooky.
The 13 episodes of season two first premiered in 1979 and will join 13 episodes of season one (which are currently available to stream) exclusively on the Godzilla YouTube Channel.
The first part of “Godzilla” Season 2 will be uploaded June 6, we’ve been told.
Produced by Hanna-Barbera, the “Godzilla” animated series ran from 1978 into 1981, developed by Dick Robbins and Duane Poole. 26 episodes aired in total across two seasons.
Wikipedia explains, “The series follows the adventures of a team of scientists on the Calico, a hydrofoil research vessel, headed by Captain Carl Majors. The rest of the crew include scientist Dr. Quinn Darien, her nephew Pete Darien and her research assistant Brock Borden. Also along for the ride is Godzooky, the “cowardly nephew” of Godzilla and Pete’s best friend, in a comic foil role in the show. Godzooky can attempt to fly using the small wings under his arms. Whenever Godzooky tries to breathe fire, he usually just coughs up smoke rings.
“The group often call upon Godzilla by using a special signaller when in danger, such as attacks by other giant monsters. Godzooky is also able to roar to summon Godzilla.”
