In a recent chat with Bloody Disgusting, “The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke revealed that he was in talks with actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan (“The Walking Dead,” “Supernatural”) about joining the next season of Amazon’s twisted superhero series.
It appears those talks have come to fruition; Deadline reports that Morgan has joined the cast for season four as a recurring guest star. Details about which character he’ll play remain under wraps.
The third season of Amazon’s “The Boys” saw “Supernatural” star Jenson Ackles reuniting with showrunner Eric Kripke for a season long role as Soldier Boy. The “Supernatural” reunions continue now that Morgan has come on board.
Now streaming through Amazon Prime, “The Boys” (based on the best-selling comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson) puts a bold, fresh and bloody new spin on the superhero genre, centered on a group of vigilantes who set out to take down corrupt superheroes.
“Season Two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.”
The series hails from a team including Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
Morgan can currently be seen on “The Walking Dead,” which is in its final season. You can catch up on the first three seasons of “The Boys” now on Prime Video.
