Those who were able to attend the Tokyo Games Show a few weeks back were able to catch the announcement of indie developer HOOK’s dark narrative adventure game, EDENGATE: The Edge of Life. In fact, the game is set for release for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 25.
According to the developers, the concept and development of EDENGATE came about “during the most difficult months of the pandemic,” and that the game is “a representation of the fear, isolation and uncertainty of the future” that the team felt during this time. The aim was to convey these emotions through EDENGATE’s gameplay and narrative.
EDENGATE: The Edge of Life tells the story of Mia, a young and promising biologist, who awakens in an abandoned hospital with no memory of how she got there. With no other signs of life around her, Mia tries to piece together the events that brought her to the hospital and unravel the mystery of the city of Edengate, which is now mysteriously desolate. EDENGATE’s gameplay is a fusion of exploration, investigation, puzzle solving and meaningful decision making that will lead players “on an emotional journey and unveil the events leading to Mia’s awakening.”
