If Striking Distance Studios’ “Mastering Horror” docuseries wasn’t enough to tide you over until the release of The Callisto Protocol, then how about a horror podcast prequel? That’s exactly what you’re getting with Helix Station, a six-part series starring Gwendoline Christie, Kevin Durand and Michael Ironside. The first two episodes are out now.
Showrun and directed by Willie Block and Jake Emanuel, Helix Station takes place in the year 2320 (the same year as The Callisto Protocol), and centres around two skip tracers, Percy (Christie) and Kane (Ironside), as hunt down bounties. The pair eventually find their ship commandeered by Black Iron Prison officer Metzger (Kevin Durand), and soon find themselves in a once-in-a-lifetime job on Helix Station, hunting down a dangerous escaped criminal. Of course, the duo eventually learn that the derelict metropolis holds dark secrets about the true nature of the United Jupiter Company.
“We’ve built a rich narrative around The Callisto Protocol, and Helix Station is a chance for fans to go deep with the United Jupiter Company and Black Iron Prison before the game comes out,” said Glen Schofield, CEO of Striking Distance Studios. “The cast did an amazing job bringing these characters to life, and we hope fans love this extension of The Callisto Protocol.”
Helix Station also features Sam Littlefield as Prendergast, Cassandra Blair as Tanaka, Leland Orser as Lennox, and Caitlin Kinnunen as Juniper.
The Callisto Protocol lands December 2nd for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.
