After the big preview for Sons of the Forest last month, you’d think that we’d be getting the full game later this month. Not so, apparently. Developer Endnight Games has announced that Sons of the Forest will instead launch into Early Access when it releases on February 23.
The decision to go the Early Access route for Sons of the Forest is to avoid having to delay the game again. Previously, the game was to have been released back in October 2022, which was in turn a delay from its May 2022 release.
“It’s been a long journey since we first started Sons of The Forest development and it’s grown into the biggest most complex game we have ever made,” explains the team. “There is still so much more we want to add; items, new mechanics, gameplay balance, and more. We didn’t want to delay again so have instead decided to involve the community in the continued development of this project and keep our February 23 release date but instead release in Early Access.”
“[The previous game] The Forest turned out to be a massive success, due mostly to the awesome community and the suggestions, feedback, and bug reports the players shared with us. We are really excited and hope that players want to come on this new journey with us to make this the ultimate survival horror simulator.”
Sons of the Forest is currently in development for release on Steam. No word on console versions as of yet.
