Wes Craven’s Scream franchise has proven to be a box office hit across multiple decades now, but what about Craven’s other iconic horror creation? We’re of course talking about the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, which hasn’t had a new installment in 13 years!
At this time, there’s still zero forward momentum on a new Nightmare on Elm Street movie that we’re aware of, but with Jason Voorhees finally coming back to life, you would think that Freddy’s return couldn’t be too far behind. He can’t stay dead FOREVER, right?
In response to recent comments from Mike Flanagan, who’s still hungry to make his own Elm Street movie, Creepy Duck Design has whipped up another awesome faux poster.
Flanagan tells Script Apart, “One of the ones that has been on my list forever is Nightmare on Elm Street. Boy, that would be fun. I have a whole take for it that I worked out a couple of years ago. And my understanding is the rights situation for that title is so fraught, no one knows who controls it really. No one knows who to pitch. So I keep telling my agents, like, ‘Send me in on A Nightmare on Elm Street.’ And they’re like, ‘We’d love to. We have no idea who you should talk to.’ I’ve spent almost a year of my life with Heather Langenkamp, and we would talk about it. And it’s like, nobody knows what to do. But one of these days, perhaps.”
Creepy Duck tweets in response, “So, @flanaganfilm wants to make a Nightmare on Elm Street movie and apparently has a whole pitch lined up! Can somebody make this happen like now please? I would be all in for that! Here’s my concept poster.”
