Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1958 thriller Vertigo is next up on the remake chopping block, Deadline reports today, with Robert Downey Jr. in talks to star in the upcoming update.
Deadline reports, “Robert Downey Jr. is eyeing the James Stewart lead role of the former police detective forced to retire after a line of duty trauma that leaves him with fear of heights and vertigo.” Robert Downey Jr. will also be producing via his company Team Downey.
The new take on Vertigo comes courtesy of Paramount Pictures.
Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”) will be writing the screenplay. Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and John Fox are producing with Team Downey’s Robert and Susan Downey.
The story for Alfred Hitchcock’s classic psychological thriller was based on the 1954 novel D’entre les morts (From Among the Dead) by Boileau-Narcejac.
