We won’t have to wait long for The Game Kitchen’s Blasphemous 2. Initially revealed back in April, the sequel to 2019’s Soulslike will arrive on August 24 for the Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
Set after the events of the original Blasphemous’ 2021 DLC “Wounds of Eventide”, Blasphemous 2 sees the return of the supernatural entity The Miracle, leaving The Penitent One no choice but to explore a strange unfamiliar world, defeat the monstrosities that lay in wait, and try to stop the prophetic birth of a new miracle child from coming to pass.
Featuring grotesque enemies and titanic bosses clambering to return him to the grave, The Penitent One will need to utilize and master new weapons and an enhanced skillset and try to survive long enough to deliver judgment to those who stand in his way, while unraveling long forgotten secrets.
Much like the original, Blasphemous 2 will feature a non-linear world of enchantingly grotesque landscapes, oozing Gothic charm and littered with unforgiving traps. How you tackle the labyrinthian world remains at your discretion, there is no wrong turn to be made, only scores to settle.
The original title’s tough-but-fair gameplay also returns, with a series of new weapons offering new moves, brutal executions, and expanded combos. Blasphemous 2 also offers up new ways to play, with the ability to customise and improve your base skillset.
