Despite showing gameplay footage last year and not much else, Duality Games’ stealth horror title Unholy is still very much alive. In fact, the team has revealed on Steam that Unholy will be receiving a demo later today.
According to the developers, the demo for Unholy will introduce players to the struggle behind main protagonist Dorothea’s choices, and challenge you with several disturbing areas, each “spoiler free and carefully selected.” The Unholy demo will also get players familiarized with the game’s key features, such as the masks characteristics and how to “weaponize and use Dorothea’s emotions.”
Created by former Painkiller, Bulletstorm and Gears of War developers, Unholy centres on the aforementioned Dorothea, who’s on the search for her young child after they disappear from a run-down, post-Soviet town. To do so, Dorothea will need to explore the aforementioned town, as well as the creepy and twisted world of Unholy, a grotesque society ruled by a relentless priest caste.
The Unholy will feature a unique gameplay mechanic of using four different emotions – anger, fear, sadness and desire – to interact with the environment in order to destroy obstacles, trigger mechanisms, overload circuits, and illuminate your way. You can also use these emotions to confuse, lure or damage your opponents.
Unholy is currently in development for PC and current-gen consoles.
