Things have been pretty quiet surrounding developer Cloud Chamber and the fourth BioShock game for a while now. It now appears that the waters have gotten a bit muddier, if a recent discovery on an artist’s ArtStation page is to be believed.
Per RelyOnHorror, Cloud Chamber Senior Concept Artist Mack Sztaba, who is currently working with the team assigned to BioShock, recently updated (then removed) a reference to his work on the still-in-development title on his ArtStation resume, with the indication that the game was aiming for a 2028 release. That reference was subsequently scrubbed, but not before eagle-eyed fans grabbed a screenshot.
Obviously, until 2K or Cloud Chamber mention anything, this isn’t a definitive answer to when we’d see the next BioShock game. Still, after rumours ranging from its setting to the game being open world, not to mention that the first hints that the game was in development were revealed back in 2019, there is a concern that the game is in development hell. And that 2028 date doesn’t help matters.
Again, until there’s an official word from the development team or the publisher, we’re left to wait.
In the meantime, if you’re looking for another title that will scratch that BioShock itch, keep an eye on Atmos Games’ action-adventure shooter Twisted Tower, which Harrison previewed back at Gamescom.
