CI Games and its internal studio HEXWORKS have already reaped the rewards from the launch of Lords of the Fallen. Released last week, the game has already exceeded one million units sold across PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series in just ten days.
“Lords of the Fallen is the most important and ambitious game we’ve developed in our 20-year history, and the first in our new planned AAA pipeline of games in the years ahead,” said Marek Tyminski, CEO, CI Games. “To see this fresh and innovative take on the action-RPG achieve one million sales in just 10 days has been humbling for everybody at HEXWORKS and CI Games.”
A reboot of the 2014 original, Lords of the Fallen is set across the dark-fantasy land of Mournstead. Featuring a unique dual-realm mechanic that allows players to seamlessly transition between the brutal and unforgiving world of the living and the nightmarish world of the dead, players battle powerful monsters and demons in a holy crusade to overcome a once-vanquished god.
Admittedly, the launch hasn’t been without snags. HEXWORKS recognizes this, and since launch, the team has worked diligently with partners and the game’s community to deliver a series of patches that improves performance and introduces new gameplay mechanics, including an overhauled New Game Plus mode, and crossplay between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Crossplay between the consoles and PC platforms will be reactivated as part of a further expansive patch this Thursday.
