The big question on several Silent Hill fans’ minds at the moment: Where’s Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake? Ever since the game was announced last year, and with conflicting information as to the game’s progress in development, there hasn’t been a lot of info in regards as to when we’d actually see the game.
Enter the various sources that have dropped tidbits of info that, while they might not be definitive, they do offer up clues about the remake, including its potential release date.
For starters, pre-orders have appeared on the Canadian version of the Best Buy website, with a summary of the game, an $89.99 price tag (in Canadian Dollars), as well as the box art. The summary includes a line about Pyramid Head being back, along with a “special origin story” for fans to play through. Depending on who you ask (given the phrasing), this either means that we’ll be getting content related to the origins of Pyramid Head, or this could refer to the “Born From a Wish” scenario that was included in the various special editions and re-releases of Silent Hill 2.
The listing also has a December 31, 2025 release date, which is more than likely a placeholder.
Things get even more interesting over at PCGameBenchmark, which lists the system requirements for the remake, as well as (originally) a March 21st, 2024 release date. Again, while there’s no source to back up to any of this information, the website points to a PCGamesN article stating that the game will arrive Q1 2024.
Then again, that PCGamesN article stated that the release date would be announced during an October Silent Hill Transmission stream that never happened.
Things get even weirder. According to X user Retro to Hero, PCGameBenchmark had changed their listing of the release date from that March 21st date to September 21, 2001 (the release date of the original game). Again, speculation is abound, but until Konami or Bloober Team make an announcement (even if it’s at The Game Awards this year), we just have to wait.
Silent Hill 2 is currently in development for PC via Steam and the PlayStation 5, with the Xbox Series coming at a later date.
Big thanks to RelyOnHorror for this info!
