Refugium Games are back once again, this time taking a cue from the likes of Choo-Choo Charles and Five Nights at Freddy’s with their subterranean Survival Horror title, Vacant’s Mine. Set for release on PC via Steam on March 29, Vacant’s Mine has working to earn your freedom in a most unusual way: stealing eggs.
The story goes that you’ve been arrested. In order to earn your freedom, you just need to work seven days in a mine for a man known as Vacant. Sounds easy, right? Well, the truth is that the mine is abandoned, save for creatures known as Greebs. Your mission is to use the mine railway and a plunger (yes, you read that correctly) to navigate through mine to steal Greebs eggs. And to make things interesting, Vacant requires different eggs each day.
While you’re busy on your egg hunt, you’ll need to use the railway’s navigation system, manipulate conjunctions, move bridges and try to stay covered in light to avoid getting caught by the Greebs in their nests. Oh, and you’ve got limited electricity in order to do that. Along the way, you’ll discover terminal logs left behind from the miners who experienced the horror of the Greebs outbreak, and before the mine was turned into a prison camp. All this in order to gain information about the egg positions. Also, keep an eye out to loot some old scrap to upgrade your railway cart.
