It was too good to be true for fans of Friday The 13th: The Game. Then again, you also knew it was coming. After the reveal of the Friday The 13th: The Game – Resurrected fan mod last week, Horror Inc. has started sending out cease and desist orders to the developers behind the modding project.
According to FridayThe13thFranchise.com, the letters were sent to the developers of the mod on their Discord channels. Not only is the Resurrected project affected, but another modding project, Friday The 13th: The Complete Edition, also received a similar request from Horror Inc. The Complete Edition mod was even older than Resurrected, having been in development over the past couple of years.
The release date for Friday The 13th: The Game – Resurrected was expected on April 15th.
These orders to stop development on the mods are obviously disappointing, and Horror Inc. is well within their rights to issue these requests. Still, from a preservation point of view, it’s understandably frustrating, since we never got the “definitive” version of Friday The 13th: The Game from Gun Interactive.
However, these requests do seem to point to what longtime franchise composer Harry Manfredini mentioned last year in regards to a new Friday The 13th game being in development. Meaning, that the new game could very well be announced soon.
As for details on the new game, the only info so far is from Manfredini himself, who said that the game will not be another asymmetrcial multiplayer title, and that it will feature “more realistic looking” characters this time around.
Stay tuned, as always.
