With Joshua John Miller‘s The Exorcism hitting theaters today (read Meagan’s review), it only seems appropriate that PC players will be doing a little exorcism work with Alawar and developer lonch.me’s upcoming adventure title Exiler. Slated to launch next year on Steam, Exiler has you trapping demons while uncovering an overarching mystery against a stylized comic book backdrop.
Exiler puts you in the shoes of Adam Wayne, an exorcist and private detective tasked with performing occult rituals and casting demons out of possessed people. To do so, you’ll be experimenting with different combinations of exorcist tools during rituals, all the while experiencing the weight of your choices as you race to save as many souls as possible on your path to salvation.
Said tools include various traps, combined with a variety of implements and unique cleansing rites for different types of evil spirits. You’ll need to complete as many rituals as possible to increase the chances of salvation.
Exiler‘s story and action are told through the game’s comic-like graphics as you navigate through 39 levels across three locations as you solve puzzles through side scrolling and point & click gameplay. Complete side quests to uncover new narrative moments that delve into Wayne’ past.
Currently, Exiler has an Open Playtest available for you to try the game. You can also keep up to date with the game’s progress via the official Alawar Discord.
