Crytek has revealed “the next era” of their PvPvE FPS Hunt: Showdown with the anticipated engine upgrade in Hunt: Showdown 1896. Launching on August 15 for PC, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series, Hunt: Showdown 1896 takes players from the Louisiana Bayou, and up into the Rocky Mountains in an all-new Colorado biome. Along with the reveal comes a sneak peek at the new map in Mammon’s Gulch.
In Mammon’s Gulch, players can visit 16 unique compounds spread across the peaks and ravines of the new biome, ranging from the torched towns to the mines. The new biome also brings with it new threats, but this time, you’ll be able to take advantage of the terrain as you explore new strategic vantage points and tactics.
As mentioned, Hunt: Showdown 1896 is the engine upgrade for the original game, bringing with it the power of CRYENGINE 5.11, with massively upgraded visuals, audio design, performance and more. For those longing for the Bayou, don’t worry. Players will be welcomed back to the Louisiana with original maps overhauled and restored in a post-launch update.
All console players will automatically receive an upgrade to the new game at no additional cost on their next generation counterpart, including all past purchases and progress.
Hunt: Showdown is currently available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series.
