Tony Pankhurst, Who Played The Curator in ‘The Dark Pictures Anthology’, Passes Away at 67

Tony Pankhurst, the actor who most recently starred in Supermassive’s The Dark Pictures Anthology, passed away yesterday at 67. Supermassive announced Pankhurst’s death via their official X account. Meanwhile, GameSpot spotted a tribute page posted by Pankhurst’s family, who had announced that the UK actor had died on May 9. No cause of death was given.

“We are all saddened to hear of Tony Pankhurst’s passing. He was the face of The Curator, and we loved working with him,” reads the post from Supermassive. In addition to his role as The Curator in all five entries of the first season of The Dark Pictures Anthology, Tony Pankhurst also had various television and film roles, including Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Jaume Collet-Serra‘s The Commuter.

Obviously, video game fans knew Pankhurst as the omniscient narrator in each entry of The Dark Pictures Anthology, despite the character’s voice and motion-capture being done by actor Pip Torrens. Despite this, Pankhurst did portray The Curator in the live-action launch trailer for House of Ashes.

The family announced that for those wishing to give any donations in memory of the UK actor, that they would be immensely grateful for donations to Hospice in the Weald “who provided such love and support to dad in his final weeks.”
