Remedy Entertainment is gearing up to enter production on Control 2, while the developer has entered full production mode on their co-production with Rockstar on the Max Payne 1&2 remake. The news comes as part of the latest financial report from Remedy, which also reports that their multiplayer project codenamed Condor has also entered full production.
The news regarding Control 2 and Condor was expected, as Remedy had mentioned back in February that both titles were expected to move into the next stage of development by this time.
Per Remedy CEO Tero Virtala, regarding Condor, the development team “has worked on multiple maps and different mission types, and we have organized a growing amount of internal and limited external playtesting for feature validation and feedback.” Meanwhile, work on Control 2 has passed the “proof-of-concept” stage and entered into the production readiness stage, with the team “[reaching] an important milestone in delivering a build of the game showcasing several important features in playable form.”
As for the Max Payne 1&2 remake, it has reached “an early functional state from beginning to end” with focus on “key differentiating gameplay features.”
It’s a bit of a different story for Alan Wake II, however. Despite the successful launch of the game last year, the launch of the “Night Springs” expansion and the next expansion in “The Lake House” coming this October, the game has still yet to be profitable. This will hopefully change with the launch of The Lake House, along with the physical version of Alan Wake II on October 22nd.
Currently, Alan Wake II is available digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
