Two New ‘Halloween’ Video Games in the Works from ‘Evil Dead: The Game’ Developers!

The Shape is making his way back to video games. IGN has reported this morning that Evil Dead: The Game developers Boss Team Games are in the process of developing on not one but two video games based on John Carpenter‘s classic slasher, Halloween. And speaking of Carpenter, the horror master is board with at least one of the upcoming games.

Details are scarce at this point, but both titles are apparently being developed in conjunction with the producers of the Halloween franchise., and one will be powered by Unreal Engine 5.

“As a huge gamer myself, I’m thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game, and my hope is to scare you silly,” said John Carpenter.

Carpenter is said to be “intimately involved” with the new titles.

The official release shared by IGN this morning states that the upcoming Halloween video games will allow players to “relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time.” The two new games are being developed in association with Compass International Pictures and Further Front.

“Everyone at Boss Team Games are huge fans of horror and Halloween obviously holds a special place in the hearts of all horror fans,” said Boss Team Games CEO Steve Harris. “Getting to work with iconic characters like Michael Myers and build on John Carpenter’s original vision is literally a dream come true. Everyone at Boss Team is thrilled and honored to be working with Malek Akkad and John Carpenter to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience that fans of the movie and video games will love.”

No release dates or platforms have been announced for either title. Stay tuned.

It’s been over 40 years since the Halloween franchise got its first (and only) video game with Wizard Video’s game for the Atari 2600, so this is needless to say huge news for fans of the franchise who have begging to play as Michael Myers in a modern game. More recently, Michael Myers, Laurie Strode and a Haddonfield map were added to Dead by Daylight.
