Back when the Nintendo Game Boy hit the big 3-5, we looked at some of the more recent games for the little grey block. One of which was Ben Jelter’s Opossum Country. For those who enjoyed that one, Ben Jelter and retro publisher Incube8 Games have announced Metamorphosis Collection for the Nintendo Game Boy Color.
Available for pre-order now in three editions, the Metamorphosis Collection contains three handheld psychological horror titles on a physical cartridge—Opossum Country, Decline and Specimen 134—each exploring the unsettling theme of transformation. The collection is available in a physical Standard Edition, a Halloween 2024 Special Edition (limited clear red cartridge), and a Digital Edition.
In Specimen 134, you play as a regular kid named Jason who starts to notice strange things happening in his town. His friend David asks him to explore the woods, but Jason may not like what they find there. Specimen 134 is significantly longer than its companions in the collection, and contains extended action segments and multiple difficulties for enhanced replay value.
The story for Decline sees you play as an elderly police detective on the verge of retirement. Wrestling with cognitive decline, she attempts to solve what seems like a simple case. However, things may not be as they seem, as rumors spread about a mysterious figure known as the ‘Glitch Witch’…
Finally, in Opossum Country, you play as a food delivery guy who needs to make a delivery at a trailer park. What seems like another day at work quickly unravels. Can you complete your delivery, or will your curiosity lead you to your ultimate demise?
