‘Molepeople’ – ‘Host’ Filmmaker Rob Savage Directing NYC Horror Movie

The director of Host and Stephen King’s The Boogeyman, Rob Savage is next directing a horror movie titled Molepeople, which seems to be inspired by the 1956 classic The Mole People.

Deadline reports that Anthony Ramos (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) and Ben Mendelsohn (Animal Kingdom) will star in Rob Savage’s Molepeople, which is set in New York City.

The film is being pitched as “one man’s nightmarish descent into the abandoned tunnels beneath the streets of New York City, where a twisted society lurks.”

Nathan Elston (Succession) wrote the screenplay, with Raphael Margules and J.D Lifshitz of BoulderLight Pictures (Woman of the Hour) producing alongside Rough House Pictures (Halloween).

Embankment’s Hugo Grumbar said, “Molepeople fuels a modern audience with shocks and thrills, captivating, heightened feelings of fear. Rob’s direction is stylish; BoulderLight’s understanding of modern audiences is unmatched – and together the filmmakers are best in class.”

Producers Raphael Margules and J.D Lifshitz of BoulderLight Pictures add, “There’s something uniquely terrifying about urban isolation – the idea that in one of the world’s busiest cities, you could vanish without a trace. With Anthony Ramos – who’s quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most commanding leading men – alongside the legendary Ben Mendelsohn, we have the perfect contemporary combination to bring this nightmare to life.”
