Another Lovecraft-inspired game is on the way. Though instead of riding the rails, you’ll be doing the summoning yourself with friends. Hologram Monster Oy has announced Ritual Party, a co-op horror party game due out next Halloween on Steam (with a later console release) that challenges players to summon Cthulhu horrors together.
And a challenge it is, as chaos will ensue as players strive to complete the ceremony, a tough endeavour by itself, before law enforcement busts down the door. Candles need to be lit, pentagrams drawn and blood sacrifices need to be made.
Even then, a lot can go wrong. Never mind the police, someone might slip on some blood, trip over a candle and suddenly there’s a house fire. Then of course there are spirits from beyond that can also cause mayhem.
Each stage challenges players to summon an Old One, with some stages introducing new rituals and others expanding on previous ones. Ritual Party may sport a macabre yet cartoony aesthetic, but the Old Ones, however, are something different entirely.
You’ll also get to explore a multitude of eerie, otherworldly locations inspired by Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos, where cosmic dread and ancient mysteries challenge your perception of reality.
