‘Death Stranding’ Has Surprise Launched Today on the Xbox Series

Xbox Series fans finally have a version of Death Stranding to call their own. Kojima Productions has surprised launched Death Stranding Director’s Cut on the Microsoft platform after it appears that Sony’s exclusivity deal has expired. Best of all, the game is available for Xbox players and the Microsoft Store with a 50% launch discount.

Per IGN, Hideo Kojima had this to say regarding the surprise launch: “It is my pleasure to finally announce that Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be delivered to Xbox players. I would like to thank all the fans who have stayed connected with us as well as everyone in the Xbox community who have been patiently waiting. Kojima Productions (Death Stranding) will continue to connect more and more players around the world, so please stay tuned.”

This appears to signal that the in-development Death Stranding 2, which is currently being developed exclusively for the PlayStation 5, may be making its way eventually to the Xbox Series at some point. It may take a while before that happens, judging from the length of time it took Death Stranding to arrive on the console.

In the meantime, Xbox owners can look forward to Kojima Productions’ other project, OD, which is in development for the Xbox Series.

Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is also available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
