Even when tackling other genres, Timo Tjahjanto is best known in the horror community for his ultra-gory output.
The same year the Indonesian filmmaker treated us with his Evil Dead-like May the Devil Take You, he also saw his action-packed The Night Comes for Us released globally on Netflix.
In the film, Joe Taslim plays a mobster who returns to his local crime family in Jakarta only to find himself trapped in a world of betrayal and chaos.
The Night Comes for Us is not only bursting with action sequences that rival his “Safe Haven” co-director’s The Raid, but it is also an absolute bloodbath.
And as ultraviolent as The Night Comes for Us is, it appears that Tjahjanto still reigned it in quite a bit. The director took to Twitter where he revealed a deleted sequence he joked “Veers into Cormac McCarthian territory.” If anything, it calls to mind the shocking finale in David Fincher’s Se7en.
One of the more darker scene in TNCFU that didnt make the cut.
Rightfully so, as it veers into Cormac McCarthian territory. pic.twitter.com/OvfJpVkEMo
