The Return of Wes Craven’s ‘Scream’ to Theaters Is a TWO NIGHT Event from October 10-11th!

Do you like scary movies?

This past weekend we told you that, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Scream, the iconic slasher would be returning to theaters this fall. What we didn’t know is that it’s actually going to be a two-night event from Sunday, October 10th to Monday, October 11th.

From both Fathom Events and Paramount Pictures, Scream 25th Anniversary will play in select movie theaters on Sunday, October 10 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Monday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. (all times local). Fans who attend the special event will also be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the film featuring vintage interviews with director Wes Craven, writer Kevin Williamson, as well as stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and more.

Tickets for Scream 25th Anniversary can be purchased online at www.fathomevents.com or at participating theater box offices beginning Friday, August 20. A complete list of theater locations is available on the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

Scream is a brilliant deconstruction of the horror genre that pays homage to the conventions of slasher films while upending them with clever twists and witty dialogue,” notes the press release.

After a series of mysterious deaths befalls their small town, an offbeat group of friends led by Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) becomes the target of a masked killer. As the body count rises, Sidney and her friends turn to the “rules” of horror films to help navigate the real-life terror they’re living in.

One of the best theater experiences of my life was the surprise of Craven’s Scream, which slayed audiences over Christmas break way back in 1996. It was such a great time that we ended up seeing it multiple times over the holidays, many of which resulted in heavy audience participation similar to that of Rocky Horror Picture Show. While the initial box office opening was soft, word of mouth turned Scream into the horror event of the decade.

Do not miss this opportunity.

The event preludes the film’s 4K release (Oct. 19) and the subsequent sequel, also titled Scream, in theaters on January 14, 2022.
