Coinciding with the release of The Lake House DLC today, Alan Wake II is also receiving the free Anniversary Update that add various quality-of-life features to the game, including platform-specific updates and a “Gameplay Assist” menu with various toggles. In addition, developer Remedy has revealed details on the PlayStation 5 Pro enhancements coming to Alan Wake II ahead of the console’s release on November 7.
One of the most requested options included in the Anniversary Update is the ability to invert the X (horizontal) axis on the mouse and controller, and not just the Y (vertical) axis. Meanwhile, PlayStation players have had the DualSense controller updated to include gyro aiming support. You can turn the motion sensor function on and off, as well as tweak horizontal and vertical sensitivity, set gyro space, and choose whether your pitch, yaw, and roll directions are standard or inverted.
In addition to the gyro aiming, haptics support for weapons for the DualSense has expanded to include healing items and throwables.
Lastly, Alan Wake II will get a Gameplay Assist menu, which can be found in the gameplay options. It contains, among others, the following toggles:
- Quick turn
- Auto complete QTE
- Button tapping to single tap
- Weapon charging with taps
- Healing items with taps
- Lightshifter with taps
- Player invulnerability
- Player immortality
- One shot kill
- Infinite ammo
- Infinite flashlight batteries
As for the PlayStation 5 Pro, Alan Wake II will have upgraded Quality and Performance modes, taking advantage of Sony’s new “PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution” also known as PSSR upscaling method, as well as ray tracing. The ray tracing will only be available in Quality mode, which will feature 30 fps, ray traced reflections (opaque and transparent), at an output resolution of 3840×2160 (4K), and a render resolution of 2176×1224.
The Performance mode uses approximately the same image quality (render) settings as the base PlayStation 5’s Quality mode, with the overall image stability, fog, volumetric lighting, and shadow accuracy having been improved on PlayStation 5 Pro. Performance mode features 60 fps, using approximately the same render (image quality) settings as the base PlayStation 5 Quality mode, with render resolution at 1536×864, with an output resolution of 3840×2160 (4K).
Alan Wake II is available now on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series. The Lake House DLC is part of the Alan Wake II Deluxe Edition upgrade.
