We’re now just two weeks away from the return of the Alien franchise with Fede Alvarez’s (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) Alien: Romulus, a sequel to the original horror classic that’s set between the events of Alien and Aliens. It’s being unleashed in theaters on August 16.
While you wait, a brand new Japanese trailer has been uploaded by 20th Century Studios this week, and it contains a bunch of footage not previously seen in the various U.S. trailers.
There are some killer new shots of the film’s Xenomorph, while we get a gnarly glimpse at just how damaging to human flesh the monster’s acidic blood can be. On that note, we get a sneak peek at what looks to be one hell of a set-piece featuring the spilled blood of a Xenomorph, the green acidic plasma floating in zero gravity as our human survivors free fall towards it.

In Alien: Romulus, “While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
Cailee Spaeny (The Craft: Legacy, Pacific Rim Uprising) leads the cast alongside Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu.
Fede Alvarez co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues (Evil Dead). Ridley Scott is on board as producer for the film, the first movie in the franchise to be released by Disney.
Alien: Romulus is based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.
