With the crammed lineup for October releases, you knew that something had to give. Unfortunately for Alone in the Dark fans, that something is the game’s release date. Originally set for October 25, THQ Nordic has elected to push the game’s release date to next year. January 16th, 2024, to be exact.
As you might guess, the reasoning for the shift in release is due to “Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man”, as the press release put it. “We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible. To honor this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16th, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October.”
It’s an obvious bummer, to be sure. But as THQ Nordic alluded to, with a crowded October release schedule, it’s going to be a tough time vying for gamers’ attentions. And giving an anticipated release like this the attention it deserves is paramount.
Alone in the Dark is currently in development for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. Also, do check out the “Grace in the Dark” demo for PC and consoles to tide you over.
