Nickelodeon has been doing a great job with their “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” reboot series, and we’ve learned today that another season has just been ordered up!
The new season will be the third as part of the reboot series, which kicked off in 2019 and continued just last year with “Are You Afraid of the Dark: Curse of the Shadows.”
Deadline details, “The third season is dubbed Ghost Island and will follow new characters who think they are attending a “fun” vacation on a resort island.
“The new members include Kayla (Telci Huynh, Modern Love); Max (Conor Sherry, The Devil You Know); Leo (Luca Padovan, “School of Rock the Musical”); Summer (Dior Goodjohn, Head of the Class); and Ferris (Chance Hurstfield, A Million Little Things). Julian Curtis (Wish Man) also stars as Stanley Crane, the hotel manager at the island resort.”
“Are You Afraid of the Dark: Ghost Island” is expected later this year.
“Are You Afraid of the Dark: Curse of the Shadows” was particularly good, with likeable characters, a surprisingly in-depth story, and a cool monster. It’s exactly the type of gateway horror that made the original series a hit with 90s kids, likely to scare the kids of today the same way it scared all of us back then. Here’s hoping they can keep up that level of quality.
