It’s always great to have variety in your asymmetrical multiplayer games. Lost Frame Development is getting in on the action with their upcoming free-to-play title, StrangerZ. Set for release on September 15th on Steam, the game ramps up the familiar Hide-and-Seek mechanic, but adds in some base defense to mix things up.
The premise doesn’t get much simpler than this for StrangerZ: Players select their lobby size from 1v1 to 3v1. One player from your lobby will randomly be selected at the start of a game to play as the Stranger, while the other player(s) will be the Survivors. The Survivors will have to defend their house from the Stranger from 12am to 6am. Once the Stranger gets past the defenses, they must now kill the Survivors before the clock reaches 6am.
Between the Survivors, they’ll be given two locks to share as a team at the start of the game that can be placed on windows and reused, along with one permalock. They also have a security system that they can use to keep an eye on the Stranger. Meanwhile, the Stranger will have to find an open window to gain entry to the house, while also making use of sabotage abilities such as cutting power to the house.
And much like other asymmetrical multiplayer games, winning matches will earn you XP as either the Stranger or Survivor. You can use this XP to increase your player level and unlock special equipment. There are also what’s referred to as ZR (rank points), which you earn and lose as you win/lose games. ZR will determine the skill level of other players you play for better matchmaking.
Currently, you can check out what’s to come with the game’s demo.
