The long wait to play DON’T NOD’s narrative Action-RPG Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is over. The game arrives today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, accompanied by the customary launch trailer that hits on the necessary notes to get prospective players interested, including the relationship between the game’s protagonist ghost hunters, Antea Duarte and Red Mac Raith.
From the developer behind Life is Strange and Vampyr, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden was initially revealed during The Game Awards 2022, and is set in 1695 in New Eden, where communities of settlers are plagued by a curse. As Banishers, Antea and Red are trained spirit-hunters, protecting people from lingering specters. But when tragedy strikes and Antea herself becomes a ghost, Red struggles between honoring his Banisher oath, and sacrificing the living in a desperate bid to bring Antea back.
As Banishers, you will enter the lives of New Eden’s communities and solve haunting cases in a mystical, lore-rich world plagued with supernatural creatures and ancient secrets. Use your wits or combine Antea’s spiritual powers and Red’s arsenal to defeat and banish the souls tormenting the living.
Challenging decisions will lay on your path, dramatically impacting your story and the fate of New Eden’s inhabitants—be they living people or wandering souls.
