Now playing in theaters, Barbarian has been earning rave reviews from critics – including our own Meagan Navarro, who awarded the film 4.5/5 stars – and the horror movie debut from writer/director Zach Cregger is sure to shock and surprise horror audiences for many years to come. Read nothing. Have nothing spoiled for you. Just buy the ticket and take the ride.
Meagan writes, “Perhaps best known as one of the founding members of “The Whitest Kids U’Know,” Zach Cregger has had an enduring comedy career. While Cregger’s latest, Barbarian, features a darkly funny streak, it’s the type of horror that goes for the jugular.”
So what’s next from Zach Cregger, you might be wondering? Speaking with Bloody Disgusting’s The Boo Crew Podcast, Cregger reveals he’s working on another horror movie!
“I’m writing a horror [movie] right now,” Cregger tells The Boo Crew. “It’s way more ambitious than Barbarian. It’s way weirder… and I don’t know if I’m gonna pull it off.”
Cregger continues, “It’s a really difficult script. I’m like 65 pages in. I know how it ends, I just can’t get the beginning to link up to the ending. So I don’t know if I’m gonna pull it off or not.”
Cregger also tells The Boo Crew that he’s working on a script that’s “set in the DC Universe,” which he describes as being a “Batman-adjacent thing.” He teases, “I wrote it and I’m utterly obsessed with it. So one day… I want to make that.”
You can listen to The Boo Crew’s full chat with Zach Cregger below.
In Barbarian, a young woman (Georgina Campbell) traveling to Detroit for a job interview books a rental home. But when she arrives late at night, she discovers that the house is double booked, and a strange man (Bill Skarsgård) is already staying there.
