After giving fans the details of the story this past June, publisher Oculus Studios and developer Camouflaj have revealed at Gamescom that Batman: Arkham Shadow will launch this October on the Meta Quest VR. That’s on top of the new gameplay trailer, which gives fans a chance to see just what to expect when you don the cowl.
Set between the events of Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham Shadow takes place during the Fourth of July, where Gotham City is besieged by the mysterious Rat King and his cultish devotees. Public officials have been abducted, including Commissioner Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent. The Rats have pledged to execute them in one week’s time for “crimes committed against the people of Gotham City.” It’s up to you as the Caped Crusader to put a stop to this.
Realized exclusively for virtual reality, players will be able to choose from the memorable gadgets and bold fighting styles reimagined from the beloved Arkham franchise. At the same time, you’ll be immersing yourself in all of the grit of Gotham City.
Seeing as Batman: Arkham Shadow takes place before we meet Harley Quinn and Scarecrow, Batman will be meeting familiar faces in Dr.’s Quinzel and Crane, alongside other iconic characters including Harvey Dent, Jim Gordon, and Ratcatcher.
