With all of these Dino Crisis-inspired games in the works, you’d think Capcom would take notice. Alongside Instinction, Compound Fracture and Deathground, you can now add LogDev’s 3rd-person shooter Paleophage to the mix. This Survival Horror game is slated to arrive later this year on Steam, and sees you battling dinos on a resort.
In Paleophage, you play as two different characters across a single campaign to uncover the secrets of the eponymous PALEOPHAGE, described as “a prehistoric biological nightmare capable of reconstituting ancient life”. You’ll be battling through a wide range of environments, from an urban resort and convention hall, to remote forest reserves. Fight or flee from over ten varieties of prehistoric creatures while using your wits to solve puzzles and gather information through environmental storytelling.
To help in your fight against these prehistoric monstrosities, you’ll be able to arm yourself from an arsenal of over six weapons and defensive options. Paleophage will also feature a dynamic enemy encounter system that “ensures that no two playthroughs are exactly the same”. If that wasn’t enough to ensure replayability, you’ll also be able to unlock additional gameplay modes.
Currently, the game is only planned for a Steam release, though the developer says that is “subject to change”. You can keep up with the development via the official site, or through their Twitter.
