Yes, it’s finally happening. For real this time. Tim Burton is back to direct Beetlejuice 2, and Warner Bros. has announced today that it’s coming to theaters on September 6, 2024!
How long was the wait? By the time it arrives in late 2024, 36 YEARS!
Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday,” Scream VI) is joining Michael Keaton in the long-awaited sequel, with Danny Elfman also returning to compose the film’s score.
Justin Theroux has also joined the cast of Beetlejuice 2.
No word yet on whether or not Winona Ryder will be back as Lydia Deetz, but the rumor is that Jenna Ortega is playing the daughter of Lydia Deetz in the upcoming sequel.

The original Beetlejuice was directed by Burton in 1988 and has become a cult favorite. It starred Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis as ghosts who haunt their old home. When a little girl (Winona Ryder) accidentally unleashes a mischievous ghost (Michael Keaton), the ghosts try to drive the homeowners (Catherine O’Hara and Jeffrey Jones) out of the house.
